Gossipers: Are These Your Problems?

IMG_0570There’s one thing you should know about gossipers:  They consider you their enemies.  So what should you do?

Life on earth is definitely not a bed of roses; it is filled with sorrows and pains and difficulties. But this life could have been made much happier and the burdens could have been lighter if everyone is your friend. But that is next to impossible.

One Day at Col. Sanders’ Place

IMG_1122My wife celebrated her birthday last Friday, the 26th— with daughters two and a grandson.  Theirs was a fantastic celebration, with fantastic spaghetti, a cake and other goodies. I wasn’t there. Just told them that all I wanted was the icing and could they please send it by the fastest carrier?

With the whole of me missing terribly the better half of me, I decided there is no better way to cope than to do it with a bash, indulge too, with my self for company. I never hesitated believing for a moment that a cake, even as big as Robinson Crusoe’s head, was not good for this occasion. You may need candles, and planting 61 burning solid waxes in honor of the spouse who is absent on top of a cake that big—or that small, whatever—may be unthinkable, to say the least. If you are now as old as I am, you may insist too that a cake is a remnant of childishness that we have left behind, that being childish at 63 is not only contrary to nature, it is also against reality— even if the heart wants it, the wallet does not.

SM City-Cebu’s Stress-Free Spot

In times like these, one may find rows of cars and motorcycles taking a tour of the mountains– urban guys wanting to take a sip of cool mountain air, visit the hills and discover the pleasure that it holds, hide away from creditors, or just stop connecting with the world. All cellular phones must be on the off-mode. Conversations must be by whispers, or you won’t enjoy listening to the chirping of the birds as they fly from one tree branch to another. On my Yamaha Crypton, it just takes ninety pesos worth of extra unleaded gas to make the trip forth and back–quite cheap a price to pay for the excitement that one gets from mountain touring.

Edwin Rebonza

This is my second post using a prepaid internet modem that is so slow I can’t even upload or download a picture. The first post is about Mar and how our paths had crossed, as well as my first embarrassing experience at PBC, the college among the pines. I smile whenever I remember that day. I still smile today even though my days as a supported preacher is almost over.

But with regards to Edwin Rebonza, that Catholic believer whose hostile attitude to the gospel had cost him to lose an opportunity to be with Jesus, I just can’t smile.

Who was Edwin Rebonza?

Mardonio Bernardo

Mar Bernardo was one of those few classmates at Philippine Bible College-Baguio whose career I had been watching. He had the looks, the build, the talent and the charisma that could attract anyone at first glance.
